I thought I knew him
a sensitive man
compassionate
and able to express
with fine precision
through words
and photographs
his world as he sees it

I thought I knew him
till I read his poetry
and saw the depth of pain
the intensity of feeling
the desire to communicate
his love
his loss

This beautiful spirit
this articulate man
how could anyone
not love him
