stupid quizzes

I always get sucked in by those pop quizzes on other people's blogs, it's so easy to just click the link and there you are, with numerous time-wasting but irresistable quizzes to answer. Somehow it feels like reading your stars in the newspaper, or consulting a clairvoyant - you know it's total crap, but you think you'll just check it out anyway in case you learn something interesting about your favourite topic - yourself!

Anyway the particular link I followed took me to the "What kind of meat are you quiz" - now I ask you, what kind of person would waste time doing a quiz like that and even more, put it on their blog to tempt others - well as I was saying, I'm quite lacking in self control when it comes to these temptations, so I did it - and I came out fish, which had quite a nice description attached. So far so good.

The next quiz promoted by the referring blog was "Which wife of Henry VIII are you?" Hmmm, well after the meat one... I glanced to the sidebar of the quiz-master and lo and behold there were all sorts of far more fascinating quizzes there. I did the "Are you right or left brained" one - because, unlike my cynical fellow blogger, I really wanted to know something interesting about me. I'll enter the code here and see whether it comes out, but if I have to enter it on the template it isn't going to happen. In that case, I'll just let you know that I am almost perfectly adjusted between the left and right...ahem! Then I did the "What age will you die" one... and I'm not sharing that with you, it's just too personal.

For a bit of fun follow the link.

You Are 45% Left Brained, 55% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

The second photo

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Here's the second photo. Sorry all my links have temporarily disappeared because of the size of the photos but I don't know how to alter that. I think this is the smallest size offered on photobucket. Glad to see you are still checking my blog TECH and sorry I've been a very slack reader and even more slack commenter lately. Unfortunately I don't have TECH's prodigious capacity for getting through my daily lists!

Managed to get photobucket to help

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

So here is the first of three photos I have ready to post. In a hurry now, so will do the others soon. This is a picture of either: mangoes, my sculpture or Katherine Gorge. You'll be able to tell which but I can't by reading the html! The ones I'll post later are, surprisingly, the other two of the above. Keep smiling (especially you smiley, whoever you are - thanks for the comment!)

...and the computer crashed again!

Part of my post below that disappeared, also told you that my computer crashed again, was in the workshop for nearly 2 weeks and came back minus all my programs, my internet connection and everything saved on my email program. They did manage to save my word documents this time, so guess I should be thankful for small mercies.

While my friend was here we did a Paverpol workshop (look it up on google). Here is my creation. Plus I'm going to try posting some more photos with photobucket and see if that is any quicker than google.

Can't believe it's been so long!

Swimming in Mataranka warm springs
Hello to any loyal readers still bothering to check this sadly neglected blog.

In my last post, I believe I was bemoaning a series of unhappy coincidences that had fallen in my sphere. Well so it went on...

Did I mention that my car battery went flat? Well it did, but appeared to be caused by leaving the boot open overnight. After driving around for an hour or so, the battery was fine, the car started every day for three days, then, when my visitor arrived, we set off about 80 kilometres down the track to visit The Territory Wildlife Park. It was a hot and humid day, but I figured after we'd sweated around the park for a few hours, we'd drive 5 minutes down the road to the beautiful Berry Springs for a long cool swim.

After a couple of hours, we staggered back to the car, hungry, dehydrated and well ready to enjoy a spot of lunch and a swim. But then disaster struck. You guessed it, the battery had gone flat again. We are now a long way from the roadside assistance option, so, begging help from some park rangers, we get a jump start. This of course put paid to any thoughts of stopping down the road for a swim. An hour later, we are back in Darwin, still hot and even more thirsty and hungry.

The first place we stopped for a battery assured us he had the right type of battery and could change it for us. Turned out he could provide the battery but didn't have a licence allowing him to actually put it in the car. "It's easy," he says to me, standing in the blazing sun, I'll give you the tools and you just undo these two nuts and put the new one in place!" "Do I look like a person who can change batteries?" I say. "Where is the closest place I can get someone to do the job." Genius car parts man reluctantly points me across the road. Fortunately the car starts again.

Second car parts place appears to have a fully operational workshop. "You really need to get some other things checked before we replace WHAT @#$%$^&^% ... the rest of this post just disappeared when I posted it. It was really long! Anyway, short version: Third garage fixes the battery but rips me off on the price by about 1/3 extra.

Apart from that I had a great time with my friend. One picture posted above and more to follow if I can manage to get blogger to work anytime before I turn 100!

Life's good here and I hope yours is too.
